Just like the other Facebook owned apps like Whatsapp, Instagram and Messenger, Facebook’s new mobile app for iOS is officially getting the Dark Mode. Setting this feature, swaps away the default white and blue theme of this app and gives it a black, white and grey them.
However much Facebook hasn’t officially announced the dark mode for its mobile app, it is confirmed that the feature is rolling out for iOS users, this means that some of the users may not be aware that they can access the feature. In this article I am going to show you how to access Facebook Dark Mode for your iPhone or iPad.
- Open the Facebook app on an iOS device.
- Tap the “Menu” tab on the bottom menu.
- Scroll down and tap “Privacy and Settings.”
- A shortcut toggle for Dark Mode will be here, provided you have it. Tap it to turn on the new theme.
If you don’t see a Dark Mode option in the app yet, you’re not alone. Facebook says “only a small percentage” of iOS users have the feature right now. It’s unclear if the new dark mode setting is only rolling out to specific devices and iOS versions. We also don’t know if the setting is turned on server-side or if you need to update the iOS app first.
The feature is rolling out slowly from Facebook, and it is possible that the newer phones will get it first. For iPhone 7 and below expect this feature to take some time, the feature is not also available for iPad Pro and there are no pending updates, this implies it will also take some time to arrive there.
Be sure to keep the Facebook app updated and check the “Privacy and Security” shortcuts periodically—the Dark Mode toggle is bound to show up at some point.
